Harrow, world of fortune and prosperity, is coming into a new era. King XXXX is retiring his crown to his son, Tristan. Tristan is a good man, with differing views on the kingdom and the neighboring relationships than his father. Jaysin Plaer, leader of the Undercurrents, is working with the government of Trey, a neighboring nation to thrawt these changes that Prince Tristan will seek to make. Jaysin begins the search for a young mallable person to be his pawn.
Alexis has just started out alone in her career as an assassin in Trey. She seeks fame and forture, but the job market is sparce. She hears that Jaysin is looking for someone to do a job for him. The details are sketchy but Alexis seeks out the overlord and hopes to gain his favor and attain the job. As details come to Alexis she realizes the job is not what she actively seeks but continues on with the negotiations. She knows that if she does the job, bigger and more prestigious jobs will flock to her hand.
Alexis is given the job, Jaysin beleives she is just young enough to be molded into a fine pawn. The journey to Harrow is long but uneventful and Alexis has time to study the grounds and the information that she was given. Getting into the palace would be her first challenge. With effort she manages to make the princes chambers and get him out with out notice. Their journey would be long and hard.
Tristan finds himself in the hands of the kidnapper and knows he must escape. He knows its a ploy for the crown and seeks to remove himself from the situation as quickly as possible. The first night Tristan tries to escape while Alexis is sleeping. He only manages to get a little ways down the road before he is felled again. Alexis threatens to slit his throat and Tristan knows she is serious, he begins to think of another approach. As they travel Alexis and Tristan talk and Tristan finds a common demonimator between him and Alexis. He uses this to persuade her to let him go.
Before Alexis can let him go a stranger happens upon them. It wasn’t happenstance, he was sent by Jaysin. The stranger tries to kill both Alexis and Tristan but with a little bit of team work Tristan and Alexis dispatch their foe. Alexis informs Tristan that the threat on his life is now greater than before and that it will not stop unless something is done about the overall plan. Tristan agrees but for the time being it is imperative that Tristan get back to Harrow and be crowned King. Tristan brings Alexis with him in hopes that she might now help protect his life, now that they’ve come to an agreement. For now they are safe, Jaysin does not know his plan has failed.
